Hello lezfigureitout

I was reviewing the Intel® RST report attached, and I was wondering if you have another replacement drive with the same or higher capacity than the disks already on the array. If you do, you can use it to know if you are showing any rebuilding options. Keep in mind that this is just for testing purposes.

Also, please attach a picture of the Disk Management.
Winlogo key + x > Disk Management.

One of the greatest benefits on this blog is the ability to have a dialogue with technical-minded people at Intel.

Second to that is the contributions of everyone. Great Stuff.

However, with the publication of this tool, I have to say that I'm really enjoying discovering them.

Thanks for the link Wanner G.

Hi Dcominottim,

Can you help confirm if you encounter the same issue if using driver from the board vendor? Looking forward to your reply.

Aww, and I was so looking forward to trying this when I get home, even tho it did sound far fetched that a software messes up bios config even if it's explicitly set to static config.

Will still try it but not holding my breath.

Hi HX Teng,

Thank you for posting in the Intel® community.

After checking the information you provided about your system, it looks like it supports the Intel® Optane™ Memory to accelerate the secondary drive, however it’s also important to have the BIOS updated.

The main requirements are basically the following:

  • 8th Generation Intel® Core Processor: The one that you have is fine as it’s an 8th Gen Core Processor.
  • Intel® RST Pre-OS UEFI Driver version 16.0.2.3402 or later: You have to check this information with your motherboard vendor because the module won’t work to accelerate a secondary drive if the driver is not updated.

Considering this information, I recommend you to wait for the latest BIOS update because without it, you won’t be able to setup the Intel® Optane™ Memory in the way that you want.

I hope this information clarifies your concern. If there is anything else I can help you with, let me know.

The sites below have additional information about the Intel® Optane™ Memory and the requirements to accelerate a secondary drive, I recommend you to check them as well for future references:

Have a nice day.

Core voltages must be within 5% of nominal. Your power supply is either insufficient (can not provide the additional power necessary) or is failing or you have a severe, abnormal power draw.

Hi Snowgod,

I checked that metadata in iDSA and identified a versioning issue. That's been fixed now, so within the next few hours, iDSA should present the correct information. The problem is when the actual driver version that gets installed is different from the driver 'package' version.

Hi,

Thank you for posting in the Intel® community.

After translating your message, I understand that you have an issue with your Intel® SSD 535 Series which is detected as a Sandforce device with no space available (0.0 GB).

This is happening because of a corrupted firmware. We can perform the following actions in order to try to recover the drive:

  • Please try installing the drive in another computer just to confirm the issue is indeed with the drive and not with the current system you are using.
  • Please try installing another drive (if possible) in the same system you are currently using to see if the same issue happens.
Don’t worry if you can’t do the actions above, but if you have another system to try on or an extra drive, please try those suggestions.

If the issue persists regardless of the system used (or if you couldn't try the suggestions above), then please try to low-level format the drive. This action will erase all data so if it is possible, please try to back up your data first. You can perform the low-level format with the Intel® SSD Toolbox as described in the following guide: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006011/memory-and-storage.html

Besides these actions, there is another alternative that we can try which consists on re-flashing the firmware of the drive. This will work only if the drive is detected correctly by the system. I understand from your post that you can see the drive correctly after turning off/on the computer so we can try this one and see if it works.

This alternative consists on flashing the drive with another firmware. Keep in mind that this approach is intended to fix a different issue, however another user reported that he was able to recover the drive from the same issue you are facing by following this process. In order to re-flash the firmware please check the following post where the process is described in detail. If you have any questions about it, please let me know: https://communities.intel.com/message/541634#541634

I recommend you to try first re-flashing the firmware as it doesn’t require to low-level format the drive and losing your data.

I hope this information helps you.

Have a nice day.

Regards,
Diego V.
