i7-6850 CPU Frequency test failed, too low

$

Hi,

I'd like some help with a problem I recently noticed after downloading the Intel Processor Diagnostic tool. I ran the tests and noticed that everything passed but CPU frequency, and that it's lower than it should be.

Here's my log:

--- CPU Frequency Test ---

...

Version 1.0.19.64b.W

...

Expected CPU Frequency is -- 3.60

Detected CPU Frequency is -- 3.2

Expected Base Clock -- 100 MHz

Detected Base Clock -- 100 MHz

CPU Frequency Test Failed

CPUFreq Fail

Return Status  1

Is this something I should be worried about? I haven't had any noticable great problems, but it's still worrying. When I go into System in the control panel it even show the full name of my processor @ 3.6 GHz and then shows 3.2 GHz afterwards.

My specs:

Intel® Core™ i7-6850K Processor 3.6 GHz

Corsair DDR4 64GB 3000MHz CL 15

AORUS GeForce GTX 1080

Let me know if there's any more information that's needed.

RS2 Color & IR Exposure Units?

Most appreciated if anyone could please clarify the definition of "exposure" as it pertains to the 400 series cameras. I'd like to be able to back into calculating the actual shutter speed of the camera for both the color and IR sensors.

I've noticed that as exposure increases, I see more frame duplicates, at least from the color sensor.

Thanks!

The BIOS version was BNKBLi35.86A not BNKBL357.86A

I can't find any matched BIO file in website.

Re: NUC7i5BNH Safe use of USB C port with external HD

The port does not "hard-push" the full 3A at the connected device(s); the device(s) draw what power they require. There is a current limiter built into the design that specifically prevents this kind of thing from happening. There should be no chance of the device(s) being damaged this way.

NUC7i7BNH Displayport on USB-C not detected/Flicker Multiple Display/Power off Monitor/Loses Collage Mode

In reference to https://communities.intel.com/message/472873#472873, i do face similar issues described in the thread , in addition to it, the displays flicker while in operation. i have 3 displays in daisy chain connection, the primary display interface with the NUC via converter USB-C to DP. And i am using Collage mode in graphics, and each time i lose display, the NUC forgets the collage mode and changes to clone mode and i have to change it each time. The converter i use is not of the type validated by Intel, could that be an issues ? When i remove the connector and plug it back, the display get detected or wake up from power off mode. Even though the  sleep mode and turn off display setting in windows has been changed to Never, still the display go to power off . Kindly suggest some solution to overcome these issues.

I would not advise to use Seagate Firecuda SSHD. Such hybrid hard drive will have performance advantage if used in system as a primary and only drive. In system with SSD as primary drive it doesn't make a sense if you use it as a secondary unit for data storing - it will not accelerate the system in this case.  One more thing, after reading the users review of this drive on Amazon site, it's look that this drive has very high failure rate (16% with one star rating)

About the kanadean question of working in single or double channel RAM mode the following link can give some data: Dual-channel vs. Single-channel, does it matter? – The NUC Blog  However if you decide to buy 16GB SDRAM (to have later the possibility to buy additional 16GB), you should be aware that even you will buy same memory with same P/N it may not work is double mode, because of slide difference in production batch. This is the reason that in order to assure that the system will work in double mode you should by a kit of exactly same memory.   A kit of two 4GB memory cost more that one 8GB module or even 2 separate 4GB modules.

Now I want also comment about of using Kingston HyperX vs Kingston Value Ram. The second one is on Intel Tested and Approved memory list, however the first one (HyperX), although more  expensive, will have better performance (CL13 vs CL15) and more important has better cooling (therefore will work in lower temperature).

I also get this issue with my USB-C to HDMI adapter with my Inspiron 7577 on the latest drivers. I can't get full RGB when connected this way.

Hello again,

I disconnected the internet before starting the stages, then I tried running the 4944 .exe and the igxpin exe, both of them ended with the result attached.

What's next?

Thanks,

Jacob

It is safe, because it uses G-Sync technology that directly connects your dgpu to the screen, so Nvidia Optimus is not available on that laptop, which will result in poor battery life. I had that laptop and returned it because I need better battery life, so dont expect more than 2 hours, even after tweaking. But yeah, it doesnt stutter.

Q8200 problem

Can anyone tell me if the Vss at k5 could cause the system to shut down if the pin is either not touching where its supposed to or touching the lands around k5. Those signals are REQ0#, REQ1#, REQ3#, REQ4#, A3#, A6#. i needed to know for sure that that is the problem before attempting to fix bent pin or replace socket. Otherwise i'll throw it out. The machine will work great for 6 or 7 minutes and then shut off. I also noticed that if I tried to access the internet through  wired ethernet or access the hard drive in a strong write to it. . Thank you in advance. Anyone please..

Benchmarking algorithms on Intel Xeon Gold (DevCloud)

This post is regarding benchmarking algorithms on the Intel Xeon processors.

Performance of Classic Matrix Multiplication Algorithm on Intel® Xeon Phi™ Processor System | Intel® Software

I have been attempting to reproduce the benchmarks as provided in the code from the article above. Specifically mmatest1.c from the zip file attached in the article. One observation I have is that there is a considerable warm-up time which leads to big overhead on the first algorithm being benchmarked. (In this case, the cblas_sgemm function.)

16 loop counts are often not enough to offset the thread 'warm-up' time. I am not sure what the correct terminology for this would be.

Can anyone confirm this? When benchmarking, is it better to give a 'warm-up' kernel to the threads?

Where can i read up more on this?

To review my code, kindly refer to: GitHub - akhauriyash/XNOR-Nets: An OpenMP parallelized implementation of XNOR kernels.

Hi David_Ray,

Thank you for sharing the information, please continue to work with Vecows and hopefully there will be good news. If Vecows system permits, you may try to use Intel retail network adapter to test but make sure you have to check with Vecows first for any compatibility before you venture into this.
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005612/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products.html

It is best to work with Vecows still for the components installed and running on their system. Thank you for sharing the information.

Re: [Realsense SDK] Merging Scan & Align Object

Easy 3D Scan is a commercial software product made by the company Cappacity.  It is not the same as the similarly named '3DScan' sample program by Intel that comes with the old '2016 R2' and '2016 R3' RealSense Windows SDKs.

Source code is available for the Intel '3DScan' sample program, but it would not work with the D415 and D435 camera models.  It uses the '2016 R2' or '2016 R3' SDKs.
