I have 2 monitors.

1. USB-c to display port to Dell U2417H

2. HDMI to HDMI to Dell UP2716D

I use the 3.5mm analog port on the UP2716D to connect to my powered speakers.

I can see both Dells are the audio devices and both would disappeared after wake up from sleep.

The other connections are only my keyboard & mouse via USB-A and a LAN connection to my router.

For the 24.20.100.6136 driver, it is specific to the NUC?

I tried the generic one (from Intel) before and it complained it is not for this hardware.

BIOS Update questions

I have a NUC5i5RYH, current BIOS version is 0355. I am running Linux, Debian 9.4 amd64. HDMI connection to a Samsung 43" television that supports only the 720p mode (1280x720, I think)

Everything is working fine with the exception that I am not able to enter the BIOS (F2) at startup unless I connect to a VGA monitor that supports 1024x768 mode. It's a rather tedious process.

As everything is working I would generally not consider updating the BIOS. However, in the most updated version of the BIOS (RY0369) there appear to be two items that might be beneficial.

1. A microcode security update

2. Support for screens that do not have the 1024x768 mode available.

Can someone please confirm that the latest BIOS will afford me the possibility of entering the BIOS (F2) while connected to the large screen TV?

I have seen it stated in the Intel Support that the 5th generation NUCS have not had a limitation as regarding the screen, but I can assure you that the problem certainly exists in my case.

By the way, I was previously registered as JohnBoyCr but my password expired and I was not able to set a new password, hence registration under a new user name. Hopefully that won't create issues. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Thank you very much for your patience, NCGuy.

Let me share with you that the Intel® Core™ i7-8650U indeed only supports HDMI* 1.4 will allow 4K @24Hz however, by using an LS-PCon converter chip, it is possible to support HDMI* 2.0/2.0a as a result, 4K @60Hz will be achieved. Please find this information on the processor's datasheet, page 34 of 214: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/7th-gen-core-family-mobile-u-y-processor-lines-datasheet-vol-1.html
In this case, it is possible to reach 4K @60Hz and, have an HDMI* 2.0 port on the NUC7i7DNHE, thanks to the LS-Pcon chip on the board; which will allow additional features that are not included on the graphics embedded on the CPU.

Blank application window after Windows 10 update

$

Hi I've updated Windows 10 64bits with 1803 and all later patches. Immediately I started to have an issue with some applications Boxcryptor, Skype, Gotomeeting. These applications have just white windows. The top of the window with minimise, maximise and close are visible and working. I've updated Graphics driver to the latest and it worked for a while. Then the issue occurred again. When I reinstall driver manually with INF file it works for a while but not with Boxcryptor. Then again it doesn't work for all these applications.

System: DELL XPS 13

Processor: i7-5500U 2.4GHz

System Windows 10 64bits

Updated driver with 15.40.38.4963

Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.40]

Any ideas for help?

Thanks

Re: how to set advanced settings for rs400 in cpp

Hello Juan,

thanks for your answer.

I tried to find more information on the github wiki, but I couldn't find any, so my hope was to get more detailed support here.

In the meantime I figured out a way to do it. Apparently I was only missing to enable the camera again after reconnecting it.

After running that once, the whole `while (...) {..}` is never called again, and advanced mode directly accessible from start.

I guess this is intended behavior.

Somehow I can't set any settings individually with e.g. `STDepthControlGroup` ..

Loading a complete json does work though.

I still doubt that this is the best way to do it, and indeed I found an interesting link here:

librealsense/rs400_advanced_mode.md at 02aeec770d23b3f8a364f1800e3c5faaaa7d0482 · IntelRealSense/librealsense · GitHub

I'll get more into it, and hope that I don't brick the cameras on the way...

Good day

I have a problem with a pc that I received.

When you switch PC on it starts then for a second it switches off and then it starts up.

No display is shows on screen you connect via HDMI port or Graphics Card

Board also displays error code EB

Post lights all shows green up and till OS boot. Standby Light is Solid green.

Memory, PSU, Graphics Card, DVD and Harddrive all tested on another computer and working 100%

PC Specs are as follows:

Motherboard: Intel DZ87KLT-75K

CPU: Intel i7-4770K

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB DDR3 1600MHz x2

Graphics Card: Asus Nvidia GTX560 TI 1GB

Have already tried removing the CMOS Battery and also moved BIOS jumper cable.

Sometimes if Graphics Card is removed the BIOS Post will show code 00 but still no display.

PC does not make any beeps and also does not switch off. Will stay on until you switch it off.

Re: Use Intel UHD graphics 620 in Windows 7?

Not sure if you're still looking for how to do this, but I have UHD 620 graphics working in Windows 7. Here's what I did:

Use the driver "Intel HD & Iris Graphics Drivers Version 21.20.16.4526 WHQL" (Available here). You need to modify the igdlh64.inf file as follows:

  • Under [IntelGfx.NTamd64.6.1] (line 157) add the item:
    • %iKBLULTGT2R%   = iKBLD_w10_DS, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_5917
  • At the bottom of the file, add this item (this is cosmetic so the adapter has the right name in device manager):
    • iKBLULTGT2R = "Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620"

Load the driver via device manager:

  • Right-click the adapter, select Update Driver Software
  • Select Browse my computer
  • Select Let me pick
  • Click Have Disk and navigate to the driver folder with the modified igdlh64.inf
  • Select Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 from the list and click Next. The driver will now install.

This will get you basic graphics features (brightness, external monitor, power settings), but note there is an incompatibility with DirectX. For my purposes, this only impacts video playback (DXVA). I am working around this issue as follows:

  • Through Programs and Features in the Control Panel, go to Turn Windows features on or off
  • Under Media Features, uncheck Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player. Reboot
  • Install MPC-HC and configure it as the default video player. Go to View > Options > Output
  • Under DirectShow Video, select System Default from the drop-down. Apply the change

You also cannot use Aero effects if that's important to you. I'm using this as a temporary work-around to support new laptops with old applications which do not yet work with Windows 10. It's unfortunate Intel is not supporting an OS businesses will continue to use up to the support end date.

Re: 8700k laptop thermal issue

Hello hanky.liu,

Thank you for your response.

Having an i7-8700K processor in a mobile form factor definitely requires proper thermal management, which is your main concern. The report that you attached shows that your processor is working fine and that it is capable of generating a fair amount of heat because of this and the demanding applications you may be running.

I believe that the temperatures your processor/system is reporting are expected mainly because of how your system was built; they are acceptable. Now, using liquid metal thermal grease may have its drawbacks. Although it may perform better than any traditional thermal solution, I would not use it on your system. Instead, I would continue monitoring the temperature and CPU usage for a while.

I also recommend you to contact your laptop manufacturer to know if they have any feasible option. As you were saying, having a laptop may limit the active cooling solutions available, and they are more sophisticated.
