You guys are dead on.
Before I saw your replies, I replaced the MB and CPU. Of course, I ended up with the same results (post code 32) when trying to use both memory channels.
Before giving up, I eventually decided to tweak memory voltages and timings based on the earlier stuff in this thread. Once I used 1.650V for memory and 1.000V for the System Agent Voltage. Everything worked as expected. I now have 2 x 4GB working, one DIMM in each channel.
I updated the BIOS first, which was good since the thread references settings and phrases not found in the older BIOS the board shipped with.
Thanks for the info everybody. Now I'm off to install Windows so my wife can get back on Facebook.
