Can't update Wireless Display software version 2.1.41.0 to newer version

I want to display the content of my laptop screen on my TV and have been looking at the various adapters for TV that are compatible with WiDi, such as, the Netgear PTV3000.  I have learned that the adapters require WiDi software versions of 3.x or higher (often 3.5.x or higher).  My Intel Wireless Display Software for Windows is version 2.1.41.0, so I tried to update to a later version.  Unfortunately, the installation routines for the more recent versions all failed with a message that included the line: “This platform is not compatible with Intel® WiDi or the application is in use.”  In my case, the application was not in use, so that was not the reason for the failure.  According to the “System requirements for Intel® WiDi” page on the Intel website (http://supportkb.intel.com/wireless/wireless-display/templates/selfservice/intelwidi/#portal/1026/article/2511), my system (Dell15R N5110) should support WiDi.  (See specs below.)  Since my system does support WiDi version 2.1.41.0, I’ve concluded that the compatibility problem is only with newer WiDi software versions.

·         Intel Core i3-2350M CPU (2nd generation)

·         Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express

·         Intel(R) HM67 Express Chipset Family LPC Interface Controller

·         Intel® HD Graphics 3000 (driver version 9.17.10.2843)

·         Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030

o   Wireless_16.7.0_s64 PROSet drivers installed

·         Microsoft Windows 7, SP1, 64-bit

One thought that occurred to me was that the compatibility problem might involve having the older Centrino Wireless-N 1030 adapter in my laptop.  I am considering replacing it with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235.  I did some checking and my system will support this new card.  However, before I start monkeying around with this, I thought I’d check with more knowledgeable folks to find out whether what I’m thinking of doing will solve my problem.  Any thoughts you can offer would be most welcome.  Thanks in advance.

By the way, I should mention that before the attempted new version installations failed, I got an error message that said “Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action.” However, after I clicked OK on that message, the installation routine continued running (in a seemingly normal way) before issuing the message I mentioned above.  If you think this is the source of my problem with updating my WiDi version, do you know what I can do to solve it?  Please know that I don’t like to ask for help on this sort of thing until I’ve made a concerted effort to solve the problem myself, but after an extensive Internet search, I came up empty.  Thanks again for your help.
