Hello Intel,
I have the black screen issue not only in Win7 but also I've tested Win 8 and Ubuntu -> it happens all the time. But let me give you some details...
I experience the problem for a long time now. I tested several configurations, because I actually wanted to send the machine back to asus for service and I wanted to make sure that it's not a simple thing. But today I googled again and found this thread....
I experiece a black screen after a normal boot (when Laptop was completely off), aftre restarting a machine, after waking it up when the lid was closed and even after automatically turning off the display after several minutes of inactivity.
When booting the machine the bios, boot menu and windows logo is visible, only the login screen does not show.
When waking up the machine it's the same except for bios and boot menu, of course.
There are two possible work arounds:
1. Hit FN + F1 -> send PC to standby and wake it up again -> voila, login screen is back
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop -> then change the display with keyboard or in driver settings
For Ubuntu it is quite similar. The screen seems black but if you look very closely (use a flashligh as help) you'll recognize that the login screen is there, but it is so dark that you nearly see nothing.
Here just one workaround is working for me -> connecting to an external monitor.
Are you willing to send your system to us? (Yes/No) Yes (in case i'll get an replacement -> I'm teaching and I need it on a daily basis)
Is your system a laptop or desktop? Laptop -> Asus UX32VD; (UX32VD-R3001H 33,8 cm (13,3 Zoll) Ultrabook (Intel Core i5 3317U, 1,7GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 24GB SSD, NVIDIA 620M, Win 8) I upgraded to 10GB RAM on my own -> Kingston 8GB PC3 12800 CL 11)
If laptop, is your built-in display failing? (Yes/No) Yes - sometimes. Very randomly. No way to find a pattern. See above
What is your operating system? Win 7, Win 8, Ubuntu (at the moment win 7 pro + ubuntu)
Is it a 64-bit or 32-bit operating system? 64-bit
What display driver version do you have installed? I tested the Asus OEM versions -> VersionV9.17.10.2828 + previous release
What type of connection are you using? (HDMI, VGA, DP, DVI?) internal display
What happens that results in the blackscreen failure? see above |
please inform me about possible arrangements.
thank you
edit:
i reinstalled the iris 15.31.9.64.3165 after restoring an win7 backup with an older driver: during installation the display went black but the laptop continued running. i waited until the hard drive wasn't working anymore, rebooted and ,thankfully, everything was fine.
