Re: This platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi

UPDATE:

The latest Intel WiFi driver 15.6.1_e64 is DEFECTIVE as is the latest Inel video driver  v. 9.18.10.3071 packaged as v. 15.31.3.64.3071.

The 15.6.1_e64 wifi driver is not stable with the Intel WiDi driver v.  4.0.18.0.

When wifi is connected on the PC, the adapter PTV2000 to the PC widi connection is lost.  Moreover, after that, the WiDi window states that the adapter can not be found and widi is rendered inoperable.

Therefore, connecting the PC to WiFi destroys the adapter to PC connection.

Even before the PC to wifi connection, the widi to adapter connection was disrupted at short time intervals.

NOW, I DOWNGRADED the Intel WiFi driver to the previous one, the 15.6.0.19 dated 12/30/2012 and WiDi AND WiFi work well together AND the adapter to PC connection is not lost at various time intervals.

So far, the above combination of Intel drivers seems to be working in Win8.  WiFi 15.6.0.19, Video  9.17.10.2932 packaged as 15.28.12.64.2932, and WiDi 4.0.18.0 installed in that order.

But they are working ONLY after the steps outlined in the ItsJustWhatever.com link in the above post were followed along with the later troubleshooting I did described above in this thread.

Other issues may pop-up since this is a new install of WiDi, but hopefully what I described here can help other users with similar Win8-WiDi issues, or even similar Win7-WiDi issues.

INTEL IS ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE IN PROVIDING A TROUBLE-FREE WIDI USER EXPERIENCE BY PROVIDING TROUBLE-FREE DRIVERS AND PRODUCTS.

This is an Intel issue, NOT a customer or a PC manufacturer issue.  Intel owns it and MUST solve it.
